Named for the king who commissioned it in 1928, the Hotel Alfonso XIII was built to house the heads of state and other luminaries who came to Seville for the 1929 Great Ibero-American Exhibition. Seventy-five years later, it remains a monument of Andalusian Revival architecture. The 147-room, five-story hotel is built around a central courtyard marked by Moorish arches, hand-painted tiles, and a fountain.
